Functional Expression of the Ectoine Hydroxylase Gene (thpD) from Streptomyces chrysomallus in Halomonas elongata.
Julia Prabhu, 2004.The formation of hydroxyectoine in the industrial ectoine producer Halomonas elongata was improved by the heterologous expression of the ectoine hydroxylase gene, thpD, from Streptomyces chrysomallus. The efficient conversion of ectoine to hydroxyectoine was achieved by the concerted regulation of thpD by the H . elongata ectA promoter .

Comparison of Methods for DNA Isolation from Food Samples for Detection of Shiga Toxin-Producing Escherichia coli by Real-Time PCR.
Loree C. Heller, 2003.In this study, food samples were intentionally contaminated with Escherichia coli O157:H7, and then DNA was isolated by using four commercial kits . The isolated DNA samples were compared by using real-time PCR detection of the Shiga toxin genes . The four kits tested worked similarly .
